Dr. Girish Chowdhary from the Department of Agriculture and Biological Engineeringof the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign came to our College foracademic exchange and delivered an academic report for BEFS faculty and students.
Girish Chowdharyis an assistant professor of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign,who carries out a lot of researches on the theory and algorithmof Adaptive Autonomy and robotics technology. Up to date, Dr. Chowdhary has published more than 90 research papers in related fields.

In the academic report entitled"Autonomous and Intelligent Robots in Unstructured FieldEnvironments", Dr Chowdhary introduced intelligent agriculture robots through three parts: filed robots, self-learningmethod and control theory. He also introduced a crown robot Terra Sentiawhich can be applied in corn field. The robot is light and small enough to avoid damaging plants. Using 3-D printing technology, the design cost of the robot has been largely deducted. The robot also applies GPS and laser rader sensor for navigation. It also has higher adaptivealgorithm allowed it to work normally in complex and badenvironment. Dr. Chowdhary pointed out that agriculture robot is a keytechnology that may change future development and drive thetransformation of agriculture.
